The Paying Unit of the Kegalle Ayurveda Base Hospital was inaugurated yesterday (30) by the Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province, Mrs. Champa Janaki Rajaratne.

This Paying Unit is being operated according to a concept of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and is the second Ayurveda Paying Unit in the Sabaragamuwa Province.

The Paying Unit of the Kegalle Ayurveda Base Hospital in the Kegalle District is designed to consist of five (05) rooms, twenty (20) beds and two (02) male and female wards.

Local and foreign patients can receive treatment here on a paid basis. A local patient is charged a minimum fee of seventeen thousand five hundred rupees (Rs. 17,500) for a single room for five days, including food and drinks, and a minimum fee of thirty-two thousand five hundred rupees (Rs. 32,500) for a foreign patient.

In addition, Panchakarma treatment is also available for a fee, which ranges between one thousand and five thousand rupees (Rs. 1,000 - Rs. 5,000).

All the above treatments are already provided free of charge at the Kegalle Ayurvedic Base Hospital. Accordingly, there is a ward complex consisting of 75-bed Bhikku, female and male wards, and an outpatient department.

One specialist doctor, thirteen Ayurvedic doctors and ten junior staff are employed in these free and paid wards.

About four hundred patients visit this hospital daily to receive services from the outpatient department.

A modern auditorium that can seat one hundred people at a time has also been built here. It is available for public and private sector needs on a paid basis.
