Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor Champa Janaki Rajaratne stated at the Warakapola Divisional Secretariat in Kegalle on the 30th that creating women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka is a priority task of the current government.

The Governor stated this while participating in the inaugural event of “Shrama Abhimani 2025” jointly organized by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Ministry of Rural Development and the Warakapola Divisional Secretariat on that day.

The objective of this is to provide training to about fifty (50) women in the Warakapola Divisional Secretariat area and introduce them to the local and foreign markets as new entrepreneurs.

Accordingly, the patchwork, printing, wall decorations, soft nets, table decorations, teddy bears, batik, shoulder bags, bedspreads and many other products produced by these new entrepreneurs were included in this exhibition and sale.

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and the District Secretariat will guide the creation of physical and online sales opportunities for the local and international markets.

Member of Parliament Manoj Rajapaksa, Kegalle Additional District Secretary (Land) Dulip Gamlath, Warakapola Divisional Secretary Rangana Sajiwa, Provincial Rural Development Director W.G.U. Kumari and others were present at the event.
