A strategic plan for the next four years
The Election Commission is working to prepare a strategic plan for 2026 - 2029 and proposals are currently being sought at the district level for this. Its Kegalle district program was held yesterday (27) afternoon at the District Secretariat Auditorium.
Accordingly, for a new time frame for the next four years, the Election Commission is expected to study the previous plan and discuss with all stakeholder groups the activities that need to be implemented further, the activities that cannot be implemented but should be implemented, and the new proposals that need to be included and prepare a new strategic plan.
At the Kegalle District Program, proposals were presented on a number of issues including the problems related to polling stations, the voting of migrant workers, disabled citizens, increasing women's representation, and early voting.
The attention of the participants was also drawn to the programs conducted by the District Election Office in parallel with this program.
The program was organized by the Division, including Assistant Election Commissioner Sajith Kasthuringhe.
The event was attended by Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake, District Secretary/Government Agent Jagath Herath, Deputy Election Commissioner (National Elections) K.J.S. Madhava, Director (Planning and Research) Channa P. De Silva, members of local government bodies, heads of state institutions and departments, representatives of civil society organizations, representatives of women's organizations, journalists, government officials and a group of others.
