The opening of the new building constructed for the Kegalle District Secretariat was held this morning (01) under the patronage of the Kegalle District Coordination Committee Co-Chairman, Minister of Environment Dhammika Patabedi and Kegalle District Secretary/Government Agent Jagath Herath amidst Sethpirith chanting.

 Accordingly, the lower ground floor, ground floor and first floor constructed at a cost of Rs. 188.83 million were completed and opened today.

 

Due to the current shortage of space in the District Secretariat, several departments are to be established in this building to minimize the congestion in the office. Due to the crisis situation prevailing in the country, only essential works were carried out to complete the building to a usable level. Accordingly, it was decided to complete the lower ground floor, ground floor and first floor of the building first so that it could be used, and the necessary funds have been requested to complete the work on the two upper floors that have not been fully completed.

On this occasion, the Maha Sangha Ratnaya, Kegalle District Parliamentarian Sagarika Gangani Athauda, the Political Authority, Additional District Secretary (Administration) Kusum Bandara, Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha, Divisional Secretaries and a group of government officials were present.
