Addressing the Kegalle District Independence Day ceremony, Mr. J.M.R.P.Jayasinghe, Kegalle District Secretary/District Governor, stated that economic freedom is more important for enjoying real political freedom. Addressing the Independence Day celebration, the District Secretary further stated that even in the midst of the hardships of a period when the country has faced many challenges, especially economically, everyone should work with dedication for the future development of the country by representing them in various fields and then the people will have more meaningful political freedom.

The Kegalle District Independence Festival of the 75th National Independence Day celebration was proudly held today (04) in the morning at the Kegalle District Secretariat premises. Kegalle District Secretary Mr. J.M.R.P.Jayasinghe, who was the chief guest, the bands brought the distinguished guests to the ceremony premises and the National Flag was hoisted by the District Secretary amid the wedding drums played by Kegalle college students. After that, the National Anthem was played by the Western Band of Kegalle College and Jayamangala Gathas were sung by the students of St. Joseph's College, Kegalle.

After Mr. J.M.R.P.Jayasinghe, Kegalle District Secretary, addressed the assembly emphasizing on the challenges of enjoying real freedom, the students of the district dance squad performed a colorful dance to a patriotic song and added color to the Independence Day celebrations. Certificates were also distributed to appreciate the school students who contributed to make the Independence Day event colorful this year.

Also, on the occasion of the 75th National Independence Day celebration, certificates were distributed to the winners selected for the competitions held at the divisional secretariat level through four components. Accordingly, certificates were distributed to the winners selected at the divisional secretariat level for the selection of the best rural economic revival and food security committee, the evaluation of the best garden and the best charity program, and the selection of the best tree planting program.

The Kegalle District Independence Day celebration was jointly organized by the District Secretariat led by the District Cultural Section and the Kegalle Divisional Secretariat.
