Mr. J.M.R.P. Jayasinghe, Kegalle District Secretary, stated that the final result of the roles performed by all the government institutions belonging to the agricultural sector of the district should be to support the farmers of the district and uplift the lives of the people of the district. He mentioned this while participating in the Kegalle District Agriculture Committee held today (15) in the morning.

This time, discussions were held in several fields in the district agriculture committee and the progress at the level of government institutions belonging to the agriculture committee was also discussed here.

Accordingly, the Deputy Director of the Provincial Agriculture Department Mrs. R.P.N.L. Rajapaksa stated that the Provincial Agriculture Department will open a sales center in the Wagolla Agriculture Premises where the products of the farmers of the Kegalle district can be sold directly. This will enable the farmers of the district to sell their produce without the intervention of middlemen in particular. Further mentioned that the seed and paddy production program implemented by the Provincial Agriculture Department will be further expanded.

Irrigation Department, Rubber Development Department, Coconut Development Authority, Small Tea Estate Development Authority, Many government institutions such as the National Fertilizer Secretariat presented their progress here.

Kegalle Additional District Secretary (Administration) Dinisha S. Rathnayake, Additional District Secretary (Lands and Development) Gamalatge Dilip Nishantha, Kegalle District Director of Agriculture Manjula Pinnalanda and other divisional secretaries, heads of government institutions and representatives of farmer organizations of the district participated in this event.
