A workshop for the journalists of Kegalle district was held yesterday (17) by the non-governmental organization OECRP, which operates with the aim of empowering civil society to fight against human trafficking in twelve districts across Sri Lanka, at Seti Hotel premises.

Especially in Kegalle district, there is a risk of people with a low level of education becoming involved in human trafficking, and there is a possibility that the entire society will be subjected to human trafficking or human trafficking in some way. The journalists were briefed about the issues that  happen.

The OECRP organization is already running a project against human trafficking and human trafficking by identifying high risk groups in Bulathkohupitiya, Deraniyagala, Yatianthota, Ruwanwella, Dehiovita Divisions.

OECRP Executive Director Ranjith Wickramasinghe, Project Director GC Padmakumara, District Coordinator Yasanta Obeysekera, District Media Unit officials and members of the media were present on that occasion.
