The Kegalle District Elders Day celebration "Detuwara Abhiman - 2023" was held yesterday (24) under the chairmanship of District Governor/District Secretary Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe at the District Secretariat Auditorium.

Here, two senior citizens who carried out a proud and pioneering mission for the elderly and uplifted the city of Kegalu from the entire island were given awards and cash prizes. Accordingly, in recognition of her quiet service of moving school children voluntarily for four decades, she was honored with the nickname 'PAra kiyana Aththamma' Mrs. K.L. Violet, as well as Mr. W. H. Piyadasa, who has been honored with many local and foreign awards for his tireless service for the art of the entire country, also received the award.

"Detuwara Abhiman" - 2023 district celebration "Pavara Detuwara" award for those who have done proud and pioneering work for social development, "Pahasara Gee Tharu" tribute for widening the horizons of human enjoyment, and for those who steered telethudi to a meaningful path by manipulating colors and lines "Detuwara Sittam" tribute, "Diriya Bhushana" tribute for self-standing and enriching their lives, "Saradharani" tribute for creating exemplary home gardens symbolizing food security in Lak Derane were given to a group of artists and all local authorities were honored with the award for their work for the upliftment of Detupura residents of Kegalle town. 

And in conjunction with this festival, the winners were selected after drawing lots from among those who bought the lotteries that were sold to strengthen the District Elderly Fund.

This "Detuwara Abhiman" 2023 district celebration, which was jointly organized by the District Elderly Promotion Officer Mrs. Dilani Kumari and the District Elderly Promotion Division, the District Elderly Board, was colorful with dance, singing and acting fields representing all the local bodies.

On that occasion, Additional District Secretary (Administration) Dinisha S. Ratnayake, Assistant District Secretary Malsha L. Priyadarshini, staff officers, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Senior Social Service Officer, senior officers of Divisional Secretariats, social service officers, development officers, district and regional senior staff members and others were present.
