The election of the district elders was held today (30) at the district secretary's office under the chairmanship of Mr. K.G.S.Nishantha, Additional District Secretary (Administration).

The special programs organized and conducted this year and the account reports of the expenditure for them were also presented to the council by the district power board officers and a group of new district power board officers were elected for the next two years.

Speaking here, the Additional District Secretary said that the Kegalle District Board of Elders is above the rest of the districts and is setting an example to the other union companies in the district and is at a very active level. The Aging Authority hopes that every adult and senior citizen at this stage of life will be happy and healthy. He further said that the expected tasks will be accomplished through the active work of the elders in the committees.

The programs expected to be done in the coming year were discussed here. According to this, Elderly Celebration Day Festival, Leadership Training Workshops, Trade Fair, Demonstration of a Drama Program created by the District Power Boards, Music Enjoyment Programs, Elderly Year Festival, Local Product Promotion Programs were included.

For this occasion, District Elderly Officer Mrs. Dilani Kumari, Elderly Division Officers, District Social Service Officer Mr. Sarath Ranaweera and a group of elders joined.
