With the aim of encouraging active participation under the Food Security and Livelihood Development Provision Emergency Assistance Program, three major programs have been planned to be implemented for the disabled in Kegalle district with the support of the Department of Social Services and the Asian Development Bank, and the second program was implemented today. Accordingly, a training on vegetable and fruit dehydration was held today (09) at the District Secretariat Auditorium for thirty people who were currently engaged in business or expected to start a business, selected from among the disabled community in Galigamuwa, Mawanella, Kegalle, Aranayaka, Warakapola, Rambukkana.

In this program, Mr. Padmasiri Gamlath, the officer-in-charge of the Jayawiru Samadhi Rehabilitation Center, gave a lecture on the problems that arise in running a business and the attitude development that must be developed in order to successfully overcome those challenges.

Mr. S.A.G.Senanayaka, Sabaragamu Provincial Director of Ceylon Industrial Development Board, expressed his views on starting a business and maintaining it, and Mr. Migara Kappagoda, Business Promotion Manager, gave practical training on food dehydration.

Also, in conjunction with this event, the National General Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities donated fifty thousand rupees each to two disabled entrepreneurs who are currently successfully running businesses in the district.

The program was organized by the department including the District Social Service Officer Mr. Sarath Ranaweera.

District Governor/District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary (Administration) K.G.S. Nishantha, social service officers of Divisional Secretariats, disabled community and their guardians were present on that occasion.
