A meeting of the District Council of Persons with Disabilities and a meeting of social service officers was held yesterday (28) at the Kegalle District Secretariat under the chairmanship of Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe, Kegalle District Secretary.

A new board of officers was appointed for 2024 after the report of the last council and the anniversary report were presented to the council and passed. Additional District Secretary K.G.S. Nishantha congratulated all the former officers who worked actively in the force last year and also blessed the new officers for successful future work.

Among the matters discussed here, first of all, the district secretary reviewed the new houses that are being built and built for the disabled living in all the divisional secretariat divisions of the district. It was also decided that the houses should be completed within this year.

It was decided to hold the District Athletics Tournament for the disabled on March 19 and it was also decided to get the support of all officials for that. It was decided here that the money available in the District Swashakti Fund will be given to the eleven Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the amount of Rs. 75000/= per division for the Revolving Fund and the interest of the fund will be used as an educational aid for children with disabilities.

Senior Social Service Officer Indumala Abeysiriwardana, District Social Service Officer Sarath Ranaweera, Social Service Officers of Divisional Secretariats, District Social Service Officers and Disability Commission officials participated in this event.
