The District Coordinating Committee, which examines the progress of the development projects in the district, met today (20) in the morning at the District Secretariat Auditorium under the co-chairmanship of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor Advocate General Navin Dissanayake and Member of Parliament Rajika Wickramasinghe.

2540 projects have been identified in relation to the Mountain Decade program implemented in Kegalle district, and 147 projects have been completed, and 517 million rupees have been allocated for Kegalle district under the decentralized budget program. It was also stated that there is. It was also said that 456 million has been allocated for the development of Pinnawala and Kitulgala tourism belt under the tourism development projects to be implemented in 2024. The tourism development zone projects related to Aranayake, Bulathkohupitiya and upper Korale were gazetted and further activities were to be implemented and the progress of the Prosperity Production Village projects was also inquired about. Furthermore, the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council has allocated an allocation of 2381 million to Kegalle district for this year and the progress of the respective projects implemented through the Ministries of the Provincial Council was examined.

Special attention was given here to fill the vacancies of principals in several schools and it was announced that 235 teachers were employed to fill the vacancies as a remedy for the severe shortage of teachers in the Dehiowita education zone.

During the year so far, 1291 dengue cases have been reported in the district and it was said that the highest number of cases were reported in Mawanella and Warakapola regions. The need to continue programs to keep public institutions, public places and houses clean was also emphasized here.

In addition to this, matters related to action programs by various government institutions were also examined.
