A meeting was held today (05) at the district secretariat auditorium to inform the development officers who are working on the subject to bring the agriculture of the district to a higher level by preparing the current projects, future planned projects and expected new projects for the improvement of the Kegalle district agriculture sector.

The distribution of fertilizers in the district, the prices of fertilizers and the progress related to fertilizers were also examined. Also, the Durian cultivation project in five domains of Yatianthota Divisional Secretariat Division, the air gun distribution project for wild animal damage in Rambukkana Division, the beginning of the Youth Agricultural Enterprise Village Project at  Warakapola, Ruwanwella and Bulathkohupitiya divisions and  the progress of several issues was also examined.

Officials were also given a target to set up at least 15 projects from all divisional secretariats for the year 2025.

In this program, Dr. Indika Weerasekera of Peradeniya Seed and Planting Development Center informed about the correct preparation of a project report and Ms. Sajini Ranasinghe, Deputy Planning Director of the District Planning Division, explained the shortcomings of a project report.

Ms. Champika Welegedara, Assistant Director, informed about the functions of the Provincial Agriculture Department.

This program was organized by the department including the District Agriculture Director M.S. Thilakasiri.

Sarath Sumanadasa, the Assistant Director of the District Fertilizer Division, and a group of development officers related to agriculture and fertilizers from all divisional secretaries attended the event.
