An awareness program related to child protection and law organized jointly by the National Child Protection Authority and the District Child Affairs Division was held recently (02) at the District Secretariat Auditorium.

A large number of people gathered for this awareness session for school van owners, drivers and assistants who transport school children in Kegalle district and Ms. Sitara Vaidyasekara, lawyer, informed the group about child safety and the law.

Sergeant Anil of the Kegalle Traffic Division also briefed the audience and arranged to discuss the problems and ideas affecting school van owners.

This program was jointly organized by District Child Welfare Officer Vinodani Kulatunga and District Psychosocial Officer Chaturika Bandara.

Certificates are being given to all the members who participated in the program and symbolically some certificates were given by the hands of the Governor and stickers were also placed on the vans regarding child safety.

On this occasion, District Secretary / Governor Ranjana Jayasinghe, Assistant District Secretary Malsha L. Priyadarshani, Head of Children and Women Bureau M. A. L. K. Menike, child care officers and others were present.
