The Sri Lanka Postal Department has taken steps to update the EMS - (Express Mail Service) international courier service as a same-day island-wide service and launch it as an express courier service covering all 25 districts of Sri Lanka.

A symbolic program was organized on 08 March 2025 to implement this network through post offices at the district level.
Accordingly, to symbolize this occasion, the public in Kegalle district was made aware of the international courier service in a very colorful manner at the Kegalle Main Post Office.
Led by a drummer, a procession from the Main Post Office distributed leaflets to the general public, business establishments, and three-wheeler drivers in a way that promoted the EMS International Courier brand. The procession stopped again near the main post office, which was the starting point. This express foreign mail service was promoted as a reliable international courier service that fulfills the needs of the people by safely delivering gift parcels, business parcels, samples or other items to their destinations, and to provide its services to the people at the lowest international courier rates by closely connecting with friends and relatives abroad.
Sabaragamuwa Deputy Postmaster Shobha Thilakaratne, Kegalle Postal Superintendent Jayalath Wickramaratne, Kegalle Postmaster W. M. C. K. Vidurupola and staff officers of the Kegalle Postal Superintendent's Office and the Kegalle Main Post Office participated in this program.
