Mr. H.M.J.M.Herath started his work as District Secretary at the district secretariat office today, 2025.03.12 in the morning with the blessings of Maha Sangha.

He received his basic education from Narammala Mayurapada Madhya Maha Vidyalaya and Kurunegala St. Anna College and then obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Sri Jayewardenepura University and an Honorary Bachelor of Business Administration degree from North Western University.
He joined the administrative service in the year 2003 and has gained a lot of experience in the administrative field by working as the Divisional Secretary of Kabilithigolleva, Tirappane, Galgamuwa and Mahawa. He has also held the posts of Commissioner (Investigation) of the Motor Transport Department and Director of the Ministry of Industry. Before starting his duties as Kegalle District Secretary, he had worked as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils.
