In accordance with the ancient tradition, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year oiling ceremony of the year 2025 was held yesterday (16) at the Kegalle District Secretariat premises under the patronage of Additional District Secretary Mr.Dilip Nishantha.

The oiling ceremony was carried out at the auspicious moment of 9.04 am, amidst the chanting of Seth Pirith by the invited traditional healer and astrologer Mr.Hemachandra Wijesinghe. In conjunction with this oiling ceremony, plants such as divul, goraka, pani dodam, madang, nika, paniwaraka, karanda etc. were also distributed.
The event, organized by the District Coordinator of the Indigenous Medicine Division of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, Ms. Asanka Abeygunawardena, was attended by Assistant District Secretary Mrs.Malsha L. Priyadarshani, staff officers from all divisions of the District Secretariat and the staff of the District Secretariat.
