The World Environment Day 2025 will be celebrated in Kegalle on June 05 and an Environment Week will be held in conjunction with it. The theme of today, the second day, is to reduce air pollution and its adverse effects. In this regard, a vehicle emission testing and correction clinic was held on the Kegalle Nidahas Mawatha throughout the day on 31st May.
At the event, free services for testing petrol and diesel vehicles and tuning three-wheelers and motorbikes were provided by experienced technicians.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Department of Motor Transport, Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund, Kegalle Police, David Peiris Company and many other public and private institutions under the guidance of the District Secretariat.
The event was attended by Kegalle District Parliamentarian Ms. Sagarika Athauda, political representatives, the Commissioner General of Motor Transport, the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, the Director of the Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund, the Kegalle Deputy Inspector General of Police, two Kegalle District Additional Government Agents, the Assistant District Secretary, government officials, vehicle owners and drivers.
