Program for Employment Assistance to Persons with Disabilities (ES P D) - 2025
A program to present the progress of providing employment assistance to persons with disabilities organized by the District Social Services Department was held on 26.06.2025 under the chairmanship of Additional District Secretary (Land) and Additional District Secretary (Administration) Mr. Kusum Bandara in the Auditorium of the District Secretariat.
In the year 2021, the Social Services Department and the Japan International Cooperation Agency jointly started a project to prepare a system to provide sustainable practical employment for the promotion of employment cooperation for people with disabilities, and for more than two years now, the Social Services Department and the Manpower and Security Department have been continuing this project together.
Among the objectives of this project is to contribute the disabled community to the national economy, encourage private employers, create employment, employ disabled people and today through this program, the Human Resource Officers and Social Service Officers of the Divisional Secretariat Division 11 were asked about the practical problems and their progress in the implementation of the project.
As a government and as government officials, we have to create an environment for the needy people to live in. The Department of Social Services and the Department of Manpower and Defense together have paid more attention to them as a group that can stand on their own without being a burden on the society. The above two government institutions and the government officials attached to them in every district are making a great commitment to guide these people who are suffering from physical and mental disabilities and have talents and creative abilities. This involves identifying their talents and providing them with proper guidance. Human resource department is working to provide them with encouragement, proper guidance and training. In this meeting held today, additional district secretary A. T. Mrs. Kusum Bandara said: "The efforts of the officials of the district to bring the needy people to an economically feasible situation is a matter of happiness and appreciation. Every program to employ the needy people is a program that shows results. Accordingly, the district social services department and the security department are at a very satisfactory level in these programs at the national level, so the district office and the people of the country contribute to a fruitful future. She further said to provide service.
