The Clean Sri Lanka program cleans the system of vocational education institutions
In line with the Clean Sri Lanka National Programme, the "Labor Mission" program covering all institutions/centres under the scope of vocational education is scheduled to be launched on 07/04/2025 with the aim of converting 311 training centers of 09 vocational training institutes under the purview of the Ministry of Education into a network of youth-attracting institutions. These institutions are Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority, National Apprenticeship and Technical Training Authority, German Technical Training Institute, National Institute of Business Management, University of Vocational Technology, Sagara University of Sri Lanka. Skill Development Fund.
The "Labor Mission" Dipa wide program will involve the implementation of minor renovations of buildings and gates of training institutes, painting, installation and renovation of garbage disposal systems, tree planting and landscaping, and for this, the participation of local coordination committee chairpersons, public representatives, district secretaries and divisional secretaries, government agency heads, and private businessmen of the armed forces. Community involvement has also been stepped up by voluntary organizations and community participation to seek sponsorship and support. Along with that several programs were implemented in Kegalle Technical College.
In this inaugural ceremony, the national flag was hoisted by Honorable Member of Parliament Ms. Sagarika Atauda and the provincial flag was hoisted by District Secretary H. M. J. M. Herat, Department Flag Technical College Principal T. G. A. S. After raising Thalapitiya Mahatmath, Kegalle Regional Coordinating Committee Chairman and Member of Parliament explained the purpose. According to the initial grant program, cleaning in front of the water pipe section in the technical college premises, removing a coconut tree in the premises, collecting non-biodegradable polythene, plastic, glass, metal, electronic waste from the college environment and packing them separately, placing the college name board, removing the items from the old principal's office and tidying the items in the carpentry section properly. A number of major behavioral health programs were implemented. Military personnel, Kegalle local council and Kegalle municipal council actively contributed to this work.
The inaugural lecture of the 06 month training course conducted with the aim of creating a change in the attitude of the apprentices who are going to enter the labor mission on 07/04/2025 started today in which several resource persons participated. One of them was Indika Wickramarachchi, Senior Rehabilitation Officer of the Prisons Department. Today this inaugural program was conducted and supervised by Mrs. Sadhana Premadasa and informed about the program on that day by Career Guidance Officer Sugath Jayathilaka. The event was attended by teachers, students and apprentices of the technical college.
