A workshop on improving public service processes

A workshop on improving public sector processes was held yesterday (15) at the District Secretariat Auditorium in collaboration with the National Productivity Secretariat and the Asian Productivity Organization in order to achieve the government's policies of creating a talent-centric professionalism in an efficient public service.

With the aim of improving the public sector, the Asian Productivity Organization is launching public service process improvement programs targeting selected districts in the country for the year 2024/25. This year, the programs will be implemented in Kegalle, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts. This process is expected to improve public trust, public satisfaction and good competitiveness, and ultimately the overall quality of life of the society.

The workshop held yesterday was facilitated by Mr. Suranga Gunaratne, Director of the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship. Under this, identifying a problem in an institution and finding solutions and simplifying processes for that purpose were implemented along with practical activities.

Speaking at the event, District Secretary Jagath Herath said that there is a need to work towards creating a satisfactory service to the public by using digital methods to make the functions of the public service more efficient.

This workshop, which was held for officials related to the higher management of the public sector and the subject of productivity of those institutions, was organized by the Productivity Unit of the District Secretariat.

The event was attended by the Honorable Chairmen and Secretaries of the Regional and Municipal Councils, Director of the National Productivity Secretariat, Mr. Niranjan S. Jayakody, Deputy Director, Ms. Lasitha Devage and officials of that office, Additional District Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries and Staff Officers, officers of the Productivity Divisions of the District and Divisional Secretariats and heads of government institutions in the district.
