A discussion was held on 2025 08 20 at the Kegalla District Secretariat Auditorium on 2025 08 20, informing all the officers related to the subjects regarding High Road Safety and representing the Political Authority, Kegalla District Parliament MP and Transport, Highways, District Coordination Committee Chairman, Dr. Millagala and Kegalle District Secretary/Chairman H. M. J. M. At the district secretariat auditorium under the leadership of Mr. Herath.

Also, Parliament minister R as the ministers who represented the political authority for this discussion. P. Manoj Kumar Rajapaksha, Lawyer Sagarika Gangani Athuda, Mayor of Kegalle Municipal Council and Chairman of rest of the local government institutions were present.

Firstly the District Secretary explained the purpose of this discussion and mentioned; "Serious damage, damage to properties, minor injuries and disabilities conditions, one person dying 4 hours a day in addition to road accidents is seen in Sri Lanka and more than the ongoing war situation, wildlife More than assaults, there are a larger number of deaths from dengue fever caused by car accidents. The death toll in the last 5 years has crossed 35,000. And about 3500 people die in car accidents a year. But it appears to be a less tendency to build notifications, public interventions, discussions and speeches. "So the discussion expects to inform concerned officials about road safety measures he further noted.

Mr. Domian Weerakkodi, the Minister of Transport, Highways, Port and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, mentioned that 7 districts in 3 provinces have been selected as special districts that should implement special programs on mountain road safety. Matale, Kandy, Badulla, Ratnapura, Monaragala, Kegalle districts have been selected for this. He further mentioned that the accidents occurred in high traffic mountainous areas if living in those areas should be informed. Today is the first meeting of the public representatives organized by three committees under the leadership of the minister. He said that the project, composed of three committees of the strategy bundle, Operations Committee on Road Safety, should be implemented by gaining views from all the people of the district and informing them. Manjula Kularatne, President of the National Assembly on Road Safety, commented by presenting the Road Safety Plan there; "This is trying to achieve one goal to inform the people in the name of A Little More Care". This programme aims to make Kegalle district a vehicle accident zero. This is a long-term strategy plan that will be planned up to a five-year plan. "This is the first meeting to be implemented in Kegalle district and a privilege to be the special team"

Surveys have identified that several factors have affected the massive road accidents in the mountainous areas. Among them have been affected by violation of road laws, speed driving, drunk driving, mechanical faults, pedestrian negligence, negligence and other factors. Also, fatal vehicle accidents in those areas have been affected as the causes; digging on roads, lack of maintenance, driver's faults may be mentioned as other reasons that affect. At the end of the discussion, there was also a distribution of possession in Kegalle town to inform the public about road safety.

However all these matters were discussed long by road safety awareness programme in mountainous areas and for this District Planning Director Indika Senaratne (Wt. B), Assistant Planning Director Himali Karunaratne, Deputy IG, Police Stationers and Police Officers in every police in the district, Road Passenger Transport Authority and Provincial Road Development Department, Sri Lanka Transport Board, Department of Automotive Transportation, Representatives of School Transport Service Societies, District Trirotic Vehicles Representatives of associations and civil activists attended this.
