A programme to award scholarships for the children studying migrant workers of Kegalle district was held today (13) at Kegalle district coordination committee chairman of environment minister Dammika Patabadi, Kegalle district secretariat.
The number of export workers registered in the Bureau of Foreign Employment in Kegalle district from January this year is 7896. A scholarship worth 3.74 million was awarded today for their 121 children. In addition to the distribution of school equipment worth Rs.10000/- per person for 73 children, a bag of goods worth Rs.10000/- for a travel beneficiary under special needs benefits.
Rs.25000/- for a child who has passed scholarship under this scholarship, and Rs.30000/- for a child who has passed Ordinary Level skills, for a child who has passed high level and got the opportunity to get further education in an educational or higher education institution. Rs. 40000/- was also received here.
This programme is organized by B, Senior Manager of Ratnapura Executive Labor Center. The Foreign Affairs Department of District Secretariat was organized together with the officials of Ratnapura Moving Center including Mrs. A. Rohini.
For these occasions, Parliament MP Sagarika Athuda, Parliament MP Manoj Rajapakshe, Parliament MP Kanchana Welipitiya, District Secretary Jagat Herath, Additional District Secretary (Idam) Mr. Dilip Nishantha, Senior Manager B. Mrs. Rohini, Mr. Harendra Udumulla of Foreign Affairs Department of Kegalle District Secretariat, Mr. Lanka Sumanadasa, officers of Ratnapura Executive Center, parents of expatriate families, elders etc were together.
