Establishment of the local consumer network for the consumer advisory committee to implement the works of the Sri Lanka Public Utility Commission and the Consumer Advisory Committee in Kegalle district today (19) At Kegalle District Secretariat Auditorium, under the leadership of Mr. Jagat Herath, District Secretary.
The main objective of this to be established consumer network is to protect and promote consumer rights in regulated sectors, act as a platform for customer participation in regulatory decisions, to raise customer awareness and education on techniques of service standards and distress solving mechanics. Facilitating, supporting resolving customer complaints at local level and giving recommendations to the Consumer Advisory Committee on regulations and policies improvement.
Here, awareness about the rights and duties of the consumer of electricity, getting membership of the local consumer network, appointment of the Board of Control of the local consumer network as well as regulatory equipment related to electric consumer services, electricity safety quality and integrity.
Here, the public was distributed especially the farmers, entrepreneurs and all electric consumers needed for various issues and challenges they face while providing their electrical services.
