In an environment where the elderly community is challenging the society, showing that the elderly community is a resource for the society, “Rich Country-Beautiful Life” in the government policy frame, “Let’s protect a generation that has made a meaningful retirement” in the theme “Respected Senior Citizen - Meaningful Retirement”, the international elderly organized on the first day of October. National Adult Week continues until October 7th in connection with the date. Today on its fifth day, the national program of awareness of adult with new technology was held at the Faculty of Parakumba outdoor theater, Warakapola.
The current adult population in Sri Lanka is 18.3% and is expected to increase up to 25% by 2040. South Asia's largest population has been focused on working for the rights and welfare of elderly Sri Lankan.
Today's programme was enchanted by the dances of the Warakapola Regional Adult Force Board, a street drama team of the regional secretariat, organized a poetry scene with modern technology and adult themed drama and the presence of the elders, whether it is necessary or not.
Today, the fifth day of the National Adult Week, the lecture of awareness about digital technology was conducted by the Warakapola Divisional Secretary Rangana Live.
The program was organized by the National Elderly Secretariat, Warakapola Divisional Secretariat and District Elderly Promotion Officer Mrs. Dilani Kumari.
District Secretary / Deputy Commissioner Jagat Herath, Additional District Secretary (Ruling) Kusum Bandara, Mr. Chathura Mihidum, Director of National Elder Secretariat Office, District Social Service Officer Mr. Sarathranaweera, Social Service Officer of Regional Secretariat Office, Adult Promotion Officers of District and Regional Secretariat Offices. A group of government officials, officers of the District Elderly Board and members of the Warakapola Regional Elderly Board were together.
