"Detuwara Abhiman" Kegalle District Elderly Day celebration organized by the National Secretariat General of Social Services and District Elderly Force, concluded yesterday (22) at Kegalle Municipal Hall.
As well as this year, the celebration was enchanted with dance and singing performances covering all the Divisional Secretariat Divisions, and included a number of awards and tribute offerings.
To the Aranayake Provincial Adult Board Dance Team who won first place in the Sabaragamu Provincial Dance Competition held this year in connection with 2025 International Adult Day, Mr. Amal Yashoman of Bulathkopitiya who won first place in the Sabaragamu Provincial Singing Competition, Warakapola who won as the most talented dancer in the Sabaragamu Provincial Dance Competition. Mr. Padmini Malkanthi of the Regional Secretariat Division were presented awards and certificates by the chief guests.
Rambukkana provincial adult bodies selection competition got third place for the invaluable mission accomplished for the development of the people of Detuwara in Kegalu city, the second place was given to Deraniyagala and Kegalle provincial adult bodies, and the first place was given to Galigamuwa provincial adult bodies. And the third place was Yatiyanthota Upper Garagoda Lucky Elders Committee as the best rural committee of 2025, second place was to the elderly rural committee of Dharaniyagala Dodawatta, first place was to the Negastanna friendly adult rural committee in Dehiovi.
This time is the active day centre for conducting welfare, income generating programs and spiritual programs as well as collective integrated development programs, Kegalla Divisional Secretariat, Gurullawala. Third place in the Senior Citizen Competition event which has strengthened the economy through self employment offered to stand strong and for self-employment, Mr. K.V. Somapala of Mawanella, second place Mr. Bulathkohupitiya R.L. Withana, first place Warakapola R. Mrs. H A Hemalatha also got it.
It is also a specialty to evaluate thirty active members of the District Elderly Force for performing a dignity and progressive service for social development at this year's Abhiman District Celebration.
The celebration was organized by District Adult Promo Officer Mrs. Dilani Kumari and the same department, adult promo officers of the Regional Secretariat offices.
