Mawanella town located in Kegalle district is a very crowded and busy city. The city has a long shortage of formal urban development plan which consists of numerous features including industry and service sectors, tourism industry, population diversity. The plans of a Mawanella City Development Program through the new government identifying the situation are currently underway and the primary discussion will be held at the Mawanella Divisional Secretariat on 09/17 and the leaders of all subjects related to the program with the intention of further further discussions on the issues presented there. A special meeting called was held today (06) at the District Secretariat Office auditorium.
The main attention was given here on the proposed Yatimahana water project through Mahoya and it is proposed to implement at a cost of around 27,000 million in five years, covering five village niladari domains like Kondeniya, Yatimahana, Muruthawela, Gondivela and Mahawattha through the project. Creating additional income sources for surrounding communities through increasing fisheries capability with building reservoir especially among the objectives and benefits of this project, contributing to reduce carbondioxide emissions through hydropower generation, creating job returns during construction period, increasing water levels around the reservoir A range of facts including surrounding natural ecosystems, domestic activities, and positive impacts on rural areas supplied on undergroundwater for consumption cultivation.
Although the grants are not yet allocated for this project, land acquisition and rehabilitation, the views and questions of all parties regarding the project implementation.
Also expected to develop Mawanella city as the main city and Hemmatagama city as sub city as proposed. Under that, we, who have taken recommendations on water disposal management techniques, aimed at formalizing the city's waste disposal, provided opportunities here to gather forward steps for the land development corporation to provide recommendations on water disposal management techniques.
Development works including hospital, major bus stops, traffic signal systems as well as international level football stadium facilities are also expected to take place centered around Mawanella in the future.
