The International Women's Day celebration is held on March 8 every year. In connection with this, the District Women's Day celebration is conducted today (10) at Kegalle District Secretariat Office, the Sri Lanka Women's Bureau of the Ministry of Children and Women's Affairs and the Sabaragamu Province Head Ministry. It was organized in the council hall.
International theme of this women's day is right, justice and action for all women and girls. Sri Lanka organized this year's Women's Day celebration with the theme "Pride of a rich country- She is the forefront" and was appreciated by two great women and eleven outstanding entrepreneurs who performed a special mission for the country in the district at the Kegalu district celebration.
Accordingly, special tribute to Mrs. Ranmanike Gunathilaka and Mrs. Vasantha Thilakangani, who contributed more than two music compositions in the Sri Lankan arts field. Worked to give the awards.
Congratulations to Mrs. Ramya Dissanayake, who won the first place as the best entrepreneur in Kegalle district 2026 who was selected from last interview, second place Angel Herath of Mawanella Divisional Secretariat, who won the first place as the best entrepreneur in Kegalle district 2026 Mrs. N who is doing bakery related products in Kegalle Divisional Secretariat who got third place. Mrs. G Munasinghe also worked to give special gifts and souvenirs here. And eleven of the best entrepreneurs from all the regional secretariat divisions were also rated here.
In connection with this event, the Liyarekha Facebook page including products of all women entrepreneurs in Kegalle district was also working on the internet. Also several entrepreneurs symbolicly distributed their products to the Honorable Chairman of Golden Professional Cooperative Society, expanding further market opportunities for the products of women entrepreneurs in the district.
The District Small Business Development Unit informed here about the role of the unit on behalf of entrepreneurs and the bank services relevant to women entrepreneurs currently implemented by the Public Bank.
Vanita development officers from all the local secretariat offices including Mrs. Manori Dehimadu, the Vanita Development Officer of the District Secretariat gathered together to organize the program.
