Mr. Mahinda S. Weerasooriya, Kegalle District Secretary/District Governor, stated that more efforts should be made to ensure food security in the district. Accordingly, he further mentioned that the relevant government officials should work to ensure the success of the various programs started by the government to ensure food safety. District Governor/District Secretary Mr. Mahinda S. Weerasooriya expressed these views while participating in the Kegalle District Agriculture Committee.

Distribution of fertilizers for the high season, new farmer pension system, control of white fly disease which damages coconut cultivation, popularization of freshwater fish cultivation to ensure nutritional needs in the district, many important issues for the agriculture of the district were discussed in the district agriculture committee and the progress of government institutions belonging to the agricultural sector of the provincial district was also examined.

Additional District Secretary (Lands and Development) Dinisha S. Rathnayake, District Agriculture Director Manjula Pinnalanda, District Welfare Commissioner Kusum Bandara, District Planning Director A.A.Weerakoon and other regional secretaries, various government officials and farmers' organizations were present for this occasion and a group of delegates participated.
