In Kegalle district, which is a district prone to frequent disasters, the District Governor/District Secretary Mr. Mahinda S. Weerasooriya, who recognized the need to update the District Disaster Management Plan prepared a few years ago, held a special meeting with the participation of officials from the relevant major government institutions today (13) in the morning at the District Secretariat Office. It was organized in the auditorium.

The Governor who spoke there said that according to the district disaster plan, there is a need to update the information to match the value of preparing a disaster management plan in order to protect life and property damage in pre-risk and post-disaster cases. He further said that the methods of obtaining information instantly through data systems will be made more efficient by using information technology units.

Accordingly, information was sought from the officials of the respective institutions about how the existing disaster management plan should be further planned and what new proposals can be added to it.

The District Disaster Management Unit had organized this program.

Additional District Secretary (Administration) Charitha Illangakoon, Additional District Secretary (Land and Development) Dinisha S. Ratnayake and other staff officers, Divisional Secretaries, Assistant Director of Disaster Management Mr. Anushka Chamila, staff officers of various institutions related to disaster subject attended the event.
