The first pilot project of the mobile geriatric medical clinic operated for the benefit of the elderly community throughout the island on the provisions of the National Elderly Secretariat was successfully completed on the 19th at Deraniyagala Maliboda Mangala Junior College in Kegalle district.

 There facilities were provided for treatment of chronic diseases including non-communicable diseases, examination of patients and provision of medicines.

Also, the officials of the District Health Medical Officer's office had arranged to provide a mobile dental clinic and laboratory facilities.

Here, eye examinations were conducted for the adults and in the future they will also provide glasses, contact lenses and hearing aids.

The staff of the Social Services Department including the District Elderly Promotion Officer Mrs. Delani Kumari and the Administrative Officer of the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat had organized this event.

On this occasion, Director General Secretariat of Elders K. G. Mr. Lanarole, doctors and staff of the Deraniyagala Health Medical Officer's office, government officials and more than three hundred elders were present.
