With the aim of setting up a joint coordination mechanism for the promotion of industries in Kegalle district, the establishment of the District Industry Coordination Committee was done today (21) under the chairmanship of the District Governor/District Secretary Mr. Ranjan Jayasinghe at the District Secretariat.

Correlating with the institutions that provide services for the industrial sector and achieving the development goals of the district, preparing the industrial development plan, establishing good communication between the institutions that are directly and indirectly involved in the industrial development, unsolvable problems related to existing industries and new industries policies. Through this coordination committee, it is expected to accomplish many objectives including directing to the compilation.

In this meeting, the Provincial Director of Ceylon Industrial Development Board Mr. S.A.J. Senanayake explained the structure and role of the District Coordinating Committee and the Director of Industrial Development Board, the Chairman of the Industrialists' Association and the Director of People's Development Foundation gave their views and the departments and institutions present The leaders presented problems, ideas and suggestions.

Accordingly, this committee will meet once every two months and examine the decisions and progress made for the development of the industry.

Along with this program, the present officials were briefed about the functioning of "New Village - New Country" national program and "Saubhagyaya" national programs.

The district planning department had organized this program.

Additional District Secretary (Administration) Dinisha S. Rathnayake, Additional District Secretary (Land and Development) Gamalatge Dilip Nishantha and other staff officers, divisional secretaries, heads of institutions and heads of financial institutions, representatives of industry associations, representatives of non-governmental organizations and others were present on the occasion.
