The first District Emigrant Association of the island, focusing on Kegalle district, established the district secretariat today (16) at the Auditorium.

This provides an opportunity for organized migrant workers and their family members to benefit themselves through proper guidance at all stages of the migration process i.e. before departure, during migration, during their service and upon return and reintegration into their communities. 

Officers were appointed for this union covering all the divisional secretariats today. Along with this, eighteen sets of school equipment worth ten thousand rupees were distributed to the children of migrant workers' families.

This program was organized by officials including the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau and the District Coordinating Officer (Foreign Employment) of the District Foreign Employment Division Mr. Harendra Udumulla.

Dilip Nishantha, Additional District Secretary (Lands) , Donald Murage, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment, M.P.D.C.W. Kumari, Deputy Director (Procedure) of the Ministry, District and Divisional Secretariat Offices, a group of foreign employment development officers and family members of migrant workers were present.
