It has been planned to establish an eco-tourism zone focusing on tourist attractions in Bulathkohupitiya and Aranayake Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Kegalle District and Ganga Ihala and Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Kandy District. A special meeting was held recently (27) under the chairmanship of Mr. Tharaka Balasooriya, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Accordingly, some essential matters were discussed including identifying the tourist attractions in those regional secretariats, identifying the private land owners willing to rent or sell the selected land, and identifying the road facilities in those tourist areas. Officers were also instructed to provide a related field inspection and report.

District Coordinating Committee Co-Chairperson Rajika Wickramasinghe, District Governor/District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe, Kegalle and Kandy Additional District Secretaries (Lands) Bulathkohupitiya, Aranayaka, Ganga Ula and Pasbage Koralawala Divisional Secretaries, District Planning Director A.A Weerakoon, Deputy Planning Director Indika Senaratne, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Grama Niladari Officers of the above divisional secretaries, development officials and others were present.
