A one-day training program was held today (10) at the District Secretariat Auditorium for the Social Service Officer and Development Officer of the district regarding community-based rehabilitation for disabled persons and their families.

The community-based rehabilitation program at regional and district level is being implemented in all the 25 districts and related to this, a training team consisting of social service officers has been assigned by the Department of Social Services to train new officers, to train trainers, to inform other officers and to train voluntary workers. .As a step of that, this basic group officer one day training was held today.

Accordingly, the officials were informed about several subjects including health, social welfare, rights approaches about disabilities and their sociological manifestations, awareness in dealing with disabled people, bringing their thinking positively through animation.

Padmasiri Gamlath, Officer-in-Charge of Jayawiru Samadhi Institute, and Ajith Serasinghe, CBR Coordinating Officer of Social Services Department, were present as resource persons for this purpose.

This program was organized by the department including the District Social Service Officer Mr. Sarath Ranaweera.

On that occasion, Additional District Secretary (Administration) Dinisha S. Rathnayake, Assistant District Secretary Malsha L. Priyadarshani, Assistant Director of Provincial Social Services Department (Sabaragamu Province) Chaturangika Premaratne, Social Services and Development Officers of District and Divisional Secretariats were present.
