A Taipongal day celebration which includes the essence and rituals of Thai Pongal festival of Hindu devotees was organized in the morning of today (24) at the district secretariat office premises.

Here, the priest of Ambepussa Sri Bhattakali Hanuman Church performed all the religious rites and rituals and the celebration also consisted of colorful dance performances by the girls of Kaliambal Dhamma School and St. Mary's Tamil College. Mrs. Dilani Kumari, District Elder Promotion Officer, introduced the meaning of Taipongal celebration on this occasion, which was also colorful with dancing and singing by the officials of the District Secretariat.

Sponsored by Sri Nadika Jewellery, Sri Latha Jewellery, Mileka Jewelery and Aarti Jewellery to this programe and Varakapala Tamil Social Development Foundation, gave prizes to the girls who participated in this program.
