The Kegalle District Coordinating Committee, which examines the development programs of the district, was held today (13) in the morning at the District Secretariat.
In this meeting, the shortage of teachers in provincial council schools in Kegalle district, the repair of roads and bridges which have been completed and under construction under the program of 10 lakh kilometers of roads, the referral of applications and appeals under the second phase of the settlement, the consideration of the divisional secretariat divisions. Common difficulties and problems were also discussed.
Information was also given here about the quick completion of the housing development project being built on the basis of the Dehiovita Walpola domain with the intervention of the Housing Development Authority under the assistance of the Government of India.
It was taken into account that with the severe dry weather conditions that are spreading throughout the district these days, there is a tendency of forest fires and the need to have a pre-preparedness for that. Accordingly, the need to inform the people living in the protected area was identified.
During the implementation of development projects and programs, the problems of Samurdhi Division, Housing Development Authority, Environment Authority, Irrigation Department, Water Supply Board, Sri Lanka Transport Board, Security Division and the solutions that can be provided were discussed here.
On this occasion, the co-chairperson of the District Coordination Committee, Member of Parliament Rajika Wickramasinghe, Minister of State for Technology Kanaka Herath, Minister of State for External Affairs Taraka Balasuriya, Member of Parliament Sudath Manjula, the political authority, Provincial Chief Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasooriya, District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe, a group of government officials including provincial council ministry secretaries, additional district secretaries, divisional secretaries and other staff officers, district planning director, police officers, heads of various government institutions and departments were present.
