According to the discussion held at the Ministry of Plantation under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture and Plantation, adding a national auspicious of planting saplings to the auspicious seat of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations in the year 2020 and implementing the program started under the name "A plant for auspiciousness - auspicious for the country" in the year 2024 and taking the program forward, the Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industries has decided to plant an annual plant that bears fruit at the same time in all institutions' premises on 18.04.2024 at 10.16 am for the National Planting Day.

The District Secretary of Kegalle District Secretariat, J. M. R. P. Jayasinghe perennial fruit-bearing plant was planted in the premises of the District Secretariat.

Supporting this national program, Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha, District Planning Director A.A. Weerakoon, Chief Internal Auditor W.P. I. Jayawardena, Assistant District Secretary Malsha L. Piyadarshani, District Engineer Saranath Wimalachandra, District Disaster Relief Service Officer N. D. R. S. Amarasena and district agriculture department officials also participated in this event.
