The inauguration ceremony of the project launched by the Skill Development Division of the Kegalle District Secretariat to start an electrician training course for the future development of the Sinhala and Tamil children who have left school and live under low infrastructure, residing in Kekalapana village under the domain of Uduwa Village Officer, a difficult divisional secretariat division of Kegalle District, was held recently at Bulathkohupitiya. Divisional Secretary H. D. S. N. Hettige, Assistant Regional Secretary Sitara V. Wickramaratne and Kegalle Assistant District Secretary Malsha L. Priyadarshini at the new Dharamshala of Kekalapana Viharaya near Kekalapana Maha Vidyalaya.
After performing the religious rites by the head of Kakalapana temple, the welcome speech was given by the principal of Kakalapana College, T. By Mr. Ratnapala. Bulathkohupitiya Divisional Secretary, Kegalle District Assistant Secretary, Director of Berendina Development Service, Mr. Jagath Hemantha, congratulates on behalf of his organization and the resource person Dr. H. G. C. H. Gunathilaka and a father representing the parents made some meaningful, effective and emotional speeches to make the students understand the importance of this course. The vote of thanks was delivered by Skill Development District Coordinator Mr. Dinesh Navaratne. The officers of the Bulathkohupitiya Divisional Secretariat and all the students of the course participated in this event.
The Vocational Training Authority (VTA) contributes to this course which is conducted as a weekend course for a period of 4 months with a total of 30 children. The specialty here is that 04 female students are also studying this course.
Through the Vocational Training Authority, one student can only take this course at a cost of Rs. 28500/= and the cost for the 30 students studying the course is Rs. 855000/= Berendina Development Services contributes to that cost. This institution also contributes to providing the necessary stationery to all the students until the end of the course. Symbolically, the stationery was also given today. Another task carried out by the Berendina Development Service is to provide training materials and the necessary equipment and provide travel facilities for students to and from the District Vocational Training Authority for the practical activities required for the course. Local job opportunities for students who successfully complete the course, necessary guidance if they are anxious to join a private institution and get a job, and if they are looking for a job abroad, to sponsor them, at the end of the course Berendina Development Service is also unique in providing a set of equipment worth around 100000/=. Thus, Berendina Development Service is expected to spend about twelve lakh rupees for the course. A big thank you to Berendina Development Services for contributing to this great work.

As the second phase of this, it is also expected to start courses in the field of sewing and construction in the identified difficult divisional secretariat divisions of Kegalle district (Daraniyagala - Nooriya, Yatianthota, Dehiovita, Aranayaka). It is also expected to get the support of Public Utilities Commission, Polychrome Institute and other non-governmental organizations for that.
