A two-day training workshop organized by the Women and Children's Affairs Division of the District Secretariat with the full support of the Kandy Women's Development Center and the United Nations Population Programme was inaugurated today (30) at the District Secretariat Auditorium under the patronage of Additional District Secretary K.G.S. Nishantha.

The aim of this program is to provide theoretical and practical awareness to the officers involved in the intervention for women and girls who have been subjected to gender-based violence, and to prepare mechanisms for the problematic situations faced by all women and children who are victims.

The resource contribution for this was provided by Lawyer Udeni Thewarakperuma and Senior Project Officer Lanka Adhikari and Project Manager Chaturanga Abhayaratne of the Women's Development Center.

The program was organized by the District Women's Development Officer, Ms. Manori Dehimaduwa, and the division.

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Assistant Deputy Director of the Legal Aid Commission, along with legal officers, probation officers, officers from the Children and Women's Unit of the Police, and officers from the District and Divisional Secretariats dealing with women and children's affairs, were present at the event.
