The 2024 Kegalle Volleyball Festival began yesterday (13) at the Kegalle Police Stadium under the patronage of Environment Minister H.P. Dhammika and District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe.

The three-day tournament was held yesterday (13) at the Kegalle Police Stadium and the Kegalle Indoor Stadium for the State Institutions Women's and Men's Tournaments.

The Cooperative Challenge Sports Club Men's Volleyball Tournament will be held today (14) at the Kegalle College Indoor Stadium from 9.00 am.

The Private Companies and Estate Companies Volleyball Men's Tournament and the Women's Amateur Volleyball Tournament are scheduled to be held tomorrow (15) at the Kegalle College Indoor Stadium.

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, Kegalle District Secretariat, Kegalle Police, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Sports Ministry, Provincial Sports Development Department, Kegalle Cooperative Development Assistant Commissioner's Office, Kegalle Plantation Human Development Trust, Kegalle College 92/95 Alumni Group and the Kegalle Volleyball Association are organizing this program.

In conjunction with this event, two scholarships were also awarded to two female players who are currently studying for a degree in Sports at Sabaragamuwa University College and who represent this year's national volleyball team and reside in the Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat, Kegalle.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament Sagarika Athauda, ​​Additional District Secretaries, District Sports Department officials, Kegalle Volleyball Association, Rotary Club, officials of the Good Friends Association, sponsors, government officials and a group of others.
