The Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT) recently presented awards to government officials who have dedicated themselves to improving the living standards of the approximately 57,000 plantation community living in the Kegalle District, under the patronage of Kegalle District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe.

Participating in the event, the Director General of the PHDT, Lal Perera, stated that the generous support received from other government institutions is very important for the success of the programs organized by the PHDT to improve the living standards of the people living in the plantation areas of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the welfare activities of the plantation community will be carried out in a systematic manner in accordance with government policies in the future.

Participating in the event, District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe emphasized the importance of working collectively with a good plan for the welfare of the plantation community in the coming year.

The Plantation Human Development Trust carries out a number of activities to enhance the welfare of the plantation community. These include the construction of houses, road construction, health clinics for adults and children on the plantations, and the establishment of child development centers for the development of the plantation community's infrastructure.
