The Kegalle District Women's Day celebration held on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 08 was held this morning (12) at the District Secretariat Auditorium. This year's Women's Day, which was celebrated with the theme "Thanumata Tirsara Hetak - Savimath Aya Ve Mamak", is a special feature of appraising three of the best businesswomen of the district.

According to this, in the competition to select the best women entrepreneurs among the eleven Divisional Secretariat Divisions this year, Mrs. Ramani Padmakanti who is engaged in the bag manufacturing industry residing in Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat Division, and Mrs. Anusha Udayangani of Mawanella Divisional Secretariat Division who manufactures food dehydration related products won the third place this year. PGMAP Pitiyegedara of Warakapola Divisional Secretariat, who is an entrepreneur in food dehydration and production, was selected as the best entrepreneur in Kegalle district in the year 2025. Here she was given a prize and appreciated.
This year's District Women's Day celebration was delivered by Assistant Election Commissioner Mr. Sajith Kasthurisinghe. He explained the importance of women's representation in the revision of the voter's list and the upcoming polls.
Also, the women were informed about the loan programs for women entrepreneurs and Anuradha Wijeratne, Marketing Promotion Officer of Bank of Ceylon and Sachitra Liyanage, Regional Business Promotion Officer of People's Bank joined them.
He informed about how to do a clean up through Ayurvedic beauty products and beauty courses, and the group including Mr. Saman Wijemanna, Head of Operations of Herb Line Institute, joined the group.
This year's District Women's Day celebration was sponsored by the District Election Office, Herb Line Institute, and Bank of Ceylon.
This celebration was jointly organized by Ms. Manori Dehimaduwa, Vanita Development Officer of the District Secretariat and Vanita Development Officers of the Divisional Secretariats.
Assistant District Secretary Malsha L Priyadarshani, District Counseling Officer Renuka Jayaratne, Women Development Officers of Divisional Secretariats and women from Women Empowerment Boards attended the event.
