The National Anti-Corruption Action Plan 2025 - 2029 was launched 09th March at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall in Colombo under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the aim of launching the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan 2025 - 2029 and launching internal affairs units in state institutions.
Simultaneously, the Kegalle District Secretariat also joined the event live via Zoom, and a group of integrity officers appointed in the District and Divisional Secretariats participated.
The government has focused its primary attention on the vital importance of creating a public service free from bribery and corruption in Sri Lanka by ensuring the integrity of public officials. Accordingly, as a key initiative in the process of curbing corruption in the public sector in Sri Lanka, it has been decided to establish Internal Affairs Units in all government ministries, departments and institutions to create a culture that fosters transparency, accountability and integrity throughout the public sector and to effectively deliver government services to all citizens.
Accordingly, through the Internal Affairs Units thus established, it is expected to achieve a number of objectives, including preventing corruption and developing a culture of integrity within institutions, ensuring transparency and accountability in all activities of the institution and ensuring public access to information related to institutional activities and decisions, promoting ethical governance within the institution, protecting whistleblowers, and assisting in law enforcement in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption.
The internal affairs units to be established and the future actions related to them were also discussed at this meeting.
