A ceremony to confer the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Insignia on the 9th Battalion of the Cadets was held on 2025 05 23 at the Kegalle District Secretariat premises with the aim of bequeathing a proud child to the country.

After welcoming the invited guests with a spectacular dance group and a procession of street cadets with weapons, the ceremony was inaugurated under the patronage of Hon. Governor Champa Janaki Rajaratne and Kegalle District Secretary / Government Agent H. M. J. M. Herath.
Following the welcome speech by the Commanding Officer of the 9th National Cadet Corps, Major Mahanama Senarath, and the Cadet Western Band performance by the students of Rajasinghe Central College, the first step of donning the official insignia began. The event, which was held under 05 steps for boys and girls, was attended by the Director of the National Cadet Corps, Brigadier A P C P R Premathilaka R S P U S P ndc, Provincial Director of Education, Darshani Iddamalgoda, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Kegalle District, S. M. Y. Seneviratne, Deputy Director of the National Cadet Corps (Sabara) Colonel R D S S Samaraweera, Zonal Director of Education, Mr. H. L. Harishchandra (Dehiowita), Zonal Director of Education, Mrs. Madhavi Welagedara (Kegalla / Mawanella), Headquarters Chief Inspector of Police, Mr. Nalaka Magedaragama and a large number of children of the Cadet Corps.
