The main objective of this workshop was to develop the knowledge, skills and professional capabilities of regional journalists and the program began after the Director General of Government Information explained the objectives and the Government Agent gave comments on "Kegalla District Development".

Here, the Director General of Presidential Media, Prasanna Perera, delivered a lecture on the topic "Media Ethics and Current Media Use in Sri Lanka" and the Chairman of the National Library and Documentation Services Board, eminent writer, Dr. Ratna Sri Wijesinghe also delivered a substantive lecture on the topic "Language Use in the Media in Sri Lanka".
Afterwards, Senior Journalist Chandana Suriyabandara, the Presidential Media Advisor, also contributed to this program by delivering a special lecture. This resourceful trio, who are experts in the media field, used this program as an opportunity to discuss and review the problems faced by the regional journalists who participated in the program. The program concluded as a well-rounded media workshop with the use of language mixed with the entertaining music of Dr. Ratna Sri Wijesinghe and the resolution of the problems of the regional journalists.
This workshop was organized by the Officer-in-Charge of the District Media Unit, Mrs. D. M. Dhammika Pemasiri, and the Additional District Secretary, T. Mrs. Kusum Bandara, Kegalle Additional District Secretary Mr.Dilip Nishantha, Assistant Director of the Government Information Department Mr.Thilakaratne Liyanapatabendi (Communications), Kegalle Assistant District Secretary Mrs.Malsha L. Priyadarshani, officials of the Government Information Department and all officials of the Media Division of the Kegalle District Secretariat participated in this event.
