A program to educate responders on preventing and reducing gender based, sexual and gender based violence in disaster situations. It was held today (02) at Kegalle Sleek Camelia Hotel under the chairmanship of Mr. Mahinda S. Weerasooriya.

In a disaster situation, improving infrastructure facilities for women, conceptually educating women, issues that should be taken care of in policy making in dealing with violence were discussed here through theoretical and practical activities.

The workshop was organized by the Kegalle District Disaster Management Center under the auspices of the United Nations Population Fund.

United Nations Population Fund Program Officer Hiroshanee Gunathilake, Disaster Preparedness and Response Unit Dr. Novil Wijesekera, Senior Lecturer Dr. Manoj Fernando provided resources for this workshop.

Additional District Secretaries of Kegalle district, Divisional Secretaries and heads of government agencies dealing with disaster situations participated in this event.
