The Kegalle District Progress Review Meeting on Rural Economic Revitalization and Food Security Committees was held yesterday (17) at the Kegalle Town Hall under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, with the participation of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor Mr. Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Ministers of Government.

The Prime Minister mentioned here that Sri Lanka is equipped with all sources that can be self-sufficient and if the rural economic revival and food security program is successfully implemented, it will provide the basis for entering into a national economic revival program.

The Kegalle district progress of the Rural Economic Revival and Food Security Committee was presented by the Kegalle Governor/District Secretary Mr. Mahinda S. Weerasooriya and the problems and obstacles in the district related to the agricultural sector were discussed here.

For the successful implementation of the Rural Economic Revitalization and Food Security Committee in the district, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor Mr. Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council are providing exceptional support and by identifying the problems of the committee and providing prompt solutions to them, confirming the food security of the district, rural economic revitalization and food security in the future. The committee is expected to be implemented more strongly.

For this occasion, the clergy, Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, State Minister for Home Affairs Ashoka Priyantha, State Minister for Technology Kanaka Herath, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Taraka Balasooriya, Kegalle District Member of Parliament, District Coordination Committee Chairperson Rajika Wickramasinghe, Member of Parliament Yadamini Gunawardena, Kegalle District Parliament Member Udayakantha Gunathilake, Parliament Member Sudath Manjula, Kegalle Mayor GK Samarasinghe and other local government representatives, State Administration Ministry Secretary Priyantha Mayadunne, Sabaragamu Province Chief Secretary Sunil Jayalath and other heads of provincial and district government institutions. A large number of people participated representing semi-state and voluntary organizations.
