According to the decision of the Kegalle District Coordinating Committee, a discussion with the participation of the relevant parties on the problems in the running of private and SLTB buses in the Kegalle District was held this morning (20) in the District Secretariat Office Auditorium under the chairmanship of the Chairperson of the District Coordinating Committee, Member of Parliament Mrs. Rajika Wickramasinghe.

Accordingly, attention was paid to many issues such as the running of private and SLTB buses according to a fixed schedule, the need to revise the existing schedules, and the irregularities related to the charging of bus fares.

Buses running at scheduled times especially on the bus routes where the problems are more acute, in cases related to the running of scheduled buses, when there are no buses, private and SLTB buses should follow an easy procedure for that and accordingly, the concerned parties reached an agreement here to deploy the staff to find out whether the buses are running according to the timetables.

Apart from that, employee motivation workshops for bus drivers and conductors will be held in the future and the police will provide support whenever necessary to provide a comfortable, regular and efficient service to the passengers.

On this occasion, District Governor/District Secretary Ranjan Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary (Lands and Development) Gamalathge Dilip Nishantha, District Planning Director A.A. Weerakoon, staff officers of the District Secretariat, Senior Superintendents of Police, Private and SLTB Bus Superintendents and staff representatives were present.
