A meeting to review the progress of the activities of the non-governmental organizations operating in the Kegalle district in the year 2022 and 2023 so far was held today (17) under the chairmanship of the District Governor/District Secretary Mr. Ranjan Jayasinghe.

This committee is expected to meet quarterly with the aim of discussing the future plans of 2023 and maintaining the activities of non-governmental organizations as a district in a formal relationship.

At present, 18 non-governmental organizations are actively operating in the district and various programs are being implemented to empower the community living in the district, including economic, social, agricultural, religious and cultural matters, and the need to work with the public sector for those activities was specifically discussed here. 

Aluth Gamak - Aluth Ratak program as well as upcoming children and women empowerment programs, Kegalu Abhiman-2023, government land identification census as well as unique contributions that can be made through non-governmental organizations for drug prevention programs in the district were also pointed out here.

Additional District Secretary (Administration) Dinisha S. Rathnayake, Additional District Secretary (Land and Development) Gamlathge Dilip Nishantha, District Planning Director A.A. Weerakoon, NGO Coordinator Nishantha Premathilaka, representatives of non-governmental organizations and field officers of the District Secretariat were present.
